No one wants to be average. Not to begin with anyway. When I was a child my biggest dream was to one day become an astronaut. But it never became more than a dream because I never sat myself down to figure out the steps I would have to take to get there.
Many of the choices that I’ve later made have been random. I had no direction in life. Often, my decisions would be based on what I deemed ‘realistic’ at the time. But that was a lie. I was not being realistic; I was being lazy. The truth may hurt, but more often than not being honest with yourself is for the best.
“There are countless ways of attaining greatness, but any road to reaching one’s maximum potential must be build on a bedrock of respect for the individual, a commitment to excellence, a rejection of mediocrity”. – Buck Rodgers
What follows is a quick list of 5 ideals that I deem to be of great importance to the 21st century male. In that writing is a subjective art, they might very well just be my ideals, but I hope you guys agree with at least some of them.
1. Create more than you consume
2. Be proactive and make plans more than you take part in plans other people made
3. Develop your personal style as you grow older
4. Always stay positive and optimistic
5. Keep learning throughout your life
More about each bullet below.
I started this blog as an accountability tool towards building a life I’d be more satisfied with. Since my first post in January of this year I’ve come a long way in many areas of self-improvement, but there is still a long way to go and I am writing down more goals daily and weekly.
So now, folks, its time to show what we are made of and be REALLY accountable.
